Obituary

Irvin C. "Buddy" Christenson, age 90, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away at Golden Age Manor in Amery, on Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was born on February 3, 1924 in Garfield Township, WI to Ernest and Agnes (Johnson) Christenson. He graduated from Amery High School and served in WWII while stationed in Japan. He then returned to Wisconsin to farm with his dad, and partnered with his parents and brother in a family restaurant business, King Tut Inn, in Taylors Falls, MN. On December 6, 1947, Irvin was united in marriage to his lovely wife, Evelyn Mickelson. Together they had two sons, Gary and Larry. In the early 1950's, Irv and Eve started dairy farming with 12 cows, and eventually moved to the Deronda location that became known as Chris Brook Farms. Irvin served for two years as the Garfield Township Supervisor and served 16 years as Garfield Town Chairman. He also served 15 years on the Equity Coop Board of Directors and as President of the board. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as church president, worked with Luther League and was active with 4H. Buddy also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with his sons. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Kenneth and Lavere. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Evelyn, two sons, Gary (Barb) of Amery, and Larry (Valerie) of Lenexa, KS, as well as seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Williamson ~ White Home in Amery and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from Trinity Lutheran Church in Garfield Township. Interment with military honors will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery following services.
