Obituary

On December 7th 2010, James Blanchard Canterbury age 77 of Amery, WI formerly of Minneapolis, MN died peacefully surrounded by his family at Willow Ridge Health Center in Amery, WI.
Jim was born February 10, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis. Upon graduating he traveled to Yellowstone National Park where he worked for the summer and explored the mountains. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in chemistry and worked for the Minnesota Department of Health and the Armory. He lived a simple life. He was a man of faith with high moral and ethical standards, a lover of nature, a steward of the earth, an avid gardener of blueberry & raspberry patches, apple trees and many other vegetables & herbs. He enjoyed the lakes, prairies and woods of both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Blanchard Canterbury; parents, Willis Phillip Canterbury and Adah Blanchard Canterbury; brother, Richard Canterbury; sister, Mary Jane Myre (Charles Myre).
He is survived by his former wife and continued friend, Elsa Paasche Canterbury; children John Guy Canterbury(Marna Melrose Canterbury) & Nancy Lea Canterbury(Blake Kevin Johnson); grandchildren, Jeffrey & Nicholas Canterbury and AJ & Jack Dolan; step-grandchildren, Finley & Renner Johnson; sister, Virginia Lindahl Canterbury; sister-in-law, Patricia Canterbury, and many loving nieces and nephews. Special mention goes out to the caring staff at Willow Ridge Health Center and his friends and neighbors, Hanna & Saheer Khoury for their faithful and loving support.
In honor of his love of nature and gardening a Memorial service will be held in the spring (May 2011), where he will be laid to rest next to his family in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
