James Howard Fowler, age 81, of Amery, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024. In his final hours, he was at peace and surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on March 11, 1943, in Amery, Wisconsin. He always felt fortunate to have had a wonderful childhood, one filled with laughter, adventure, and getting into trouble with his brothers.
Jim attended Amery High School, where he excelled at wrestling and made lifelong friends in the process. While there, he also met the love of his life, Joanne Huebner. They were wed on November 17, 1962, in Little Falls, Wisconsin, and went on to spend 58 joyous years together.
After high school, Jim entered the Air Force, which took him all the way to Biloxi, Mississippi, overseas to Turkey, and eventually back stateside to Finland, Minnesota. He then took a job at Control Data in Arden Hills, Minnesota, where he worked for decades as an electronic technician.
Family was everything to Jim and Joanne. In 1970, they moved back to Amery and built their dream house, where Jim could start a hobby farm and finally had space to work on his cars, tractors, and even the occasional go-kart. Here, they raised four daughters (as well as a menagerie of animals) and created a home that was warm and welcoming for friends and family. As their family grew, they enjoyed attending the sporting events, plays, concerts, and major milestones of their nine beloved grandchildren.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He was an intelligent and endlessly curious man who loved to tinker almost as much as he loved the Green Bay Packers. He will be deeply missed by many.
Left to mourn his passing are his daughters: Julie Du Bois, Tracie Will, Brenda Gullickson, and Denise (Greg) Hansen; brother, George Fowler; grandchildren: Matthew Du Bois, Brittni Fowler, April Will (Jake Goergen), Kayla Gullickson, Jordan Will, Megan Du Bois, and Isaac, Holly, and Nick Hansen; and many other family members and friends whom he deeply cherished.
Jim was preceded in death by: his wife, Joanne Fowler; father, Howard Fowler; mother, Lavina (Church) Fowler; brothers, Gerald Fowler and John Fowler; sisters-in-law, Donna Fowler and Sue Fowler; nephew, David Fowler; and niece, Michelle Magnuson.
A visitation will be held at the Williamson-White Funeral Home on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, and the funeral service will be held at Little Falls Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior.
