James Edwin "Jim" Lauck Sr., age 97, of Amery, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026.

Jim was born on November 21, 1928, in Peabody, Kansas. He lived a long, full life defined by hard work, ingenuity, and a deep commitment to his family. On June 11, 1949, he married Elois Lauck, the love of his life. Together, they built a lasting partnership rooted in resilience, dedication, and unwavering devotion to one another. They lovingly raised their three children and, later in life, cherished the time they spent wintering together in Texas, making many friends and creating treasured memories.

Jim was a man of many talents and trades – a true jack of all trades. Over the years, he worked as a race car driver, electrician, truck driver, construction worker, mechanic, carpenter, and all-around creator. He had an inquisitive mind, which fueled his natural gift for building and inventing.  He designed motorized vans, motorcycles, and a wide variety of mechanical projects. Nearly every home he lived in bore his mark—remodeled, expanded, or improved by his own two hands.

Racing was one of Jim's greatest passions. He proudly drove many race cars #59L, a number that became deeply meaningful to him and his family. That number represents far more than a car—it stands for determination, grit, and the spirit with which Jim lived his life. The legacy of #59L will live on, forever tied to his name and carried forward by those who loved him, ensuring it remains part of the family's story for generations to come.

Jim was a hardworking and independent man who believed in doing things right—with effort, persistence, and pride. He approached life much like he approached the racetrack: hit the gas in the corners and make it a darn good run.

Above all else, Jim valued family. He is lovingly survived by his children, James Edwin (Veronica) Lauck Jr. and Cynthia Mary (Tommy) Ramberg, along with eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom carry forward his legacy.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elois Lauck; his son and best friend, Jeffrey Clarence Lauck; his great-grandson, Alexander James Lauck; his parents, Edwin Leroy "Shorty" Lauck and Marie Morgan; and his brother, Bob Lauck.

Jim lived his life without regret and often shared that he would do it all over again the same way. He took great pride in reaching 97 years old and made sure everyone around him knew it—often with a grin and a spark in his eye. Sharp as ever, he carried his intelligence and quick wit with him throughout his life right to the very end, never missing an opportunity to tell a story. His strength, resourcefulness, and unwavering work ethic left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. A prayer service will begin at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park at a later date.

His legacy lives on through his family—through the lessons he taught, the values he instilled, and the example he set. He showed those around him the importance of hard work, independence, resilience, and living life on your own terms.

Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
