Jean M. Hagen was born in River Falls, Wisconsin on October 8, 1925 the daughter of Joseph and Etta (Harriman) Kolling. She grew up in River Falls and after graduating from high school she went on to college to earn her teaching degree. She worked as a teacher for several years. On June 1, 1949 he was united in marriage to Vern Hagen. They lived in Amery, Wisconsin for a time before moving to Marcell, Minnesota. They also lived in Balaton, Minnesota, Cottonwood, Minnesota and Blackduck, Minnesota. During her life she was a member of MEA and NEA as well as the General Federation of Women's Clubs. They were living in Brooton, Minnesota in retirement, but the past two years have been at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, Minnesota where she passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the age of 89 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern; brother, Jerome Kolling and sister Mary Bevington. Left to mourn are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery. There will be visitation for the hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the East Immanuel Cemetery.
