Joseph Oliver Roberts, age 89 of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Amery Hospital and Clinic. He was born on December 30, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Edgar and Svea (Swenson) Roberts. At a young age the he moved to his grandmother's farm in North Branch, MN. Joe spent time working on the farm as a child and graduated from North Branch High School in 1943. In 1945 he enlisted in the Armed Forces and served with the Army. During his service he served with the Honor Guard of the Nuremberg Trials. After the service he married Delores Sell in 1954 and to this union three daughters were born. The family lived in Eagan, MN where Joe worked at Honeywell for 38 years. In 1978 he married Millie DuPlissis. The couple lived in Roseville, MN and in 1986 moved to the Little Falls area in rural Amery, and in 2002 moved to Pondhurst in Amery where they currently reside. Joe was a member of the American Legion and VFW, and served on the church board at Little Falls Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, ice skating, reading, dancing, and was a member of the Polka Lovers Club of America. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Steven Carroll and step daughter, Diana DuPlissis. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Millie; daughters, Yvonne Ellevold, Linnea Powers and Denise (Pat) Beaudry. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a brother, Edgar V. Roberts, as well as by his step children, Margaret (Stan) Diddams and John (Jenny) DuPlissis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from Little Falls Lutheran Church in rural Amery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, as well as for the hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
