Karen Hancock was born on June 11, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota the daughter of Ira and Ida (Richards) Vadner. She spent her early years in St. Paul, but as a young girl her family moved to the Amery area. She attended the Amery Schools. On December 30, 1967 she was united in marriage to Owen Hancock. They lived in the twin cities for a short time, but then moved to rural Amery where they have made their home. Karen was active in making crafts and did a lot of painting. She liked flower gardening and had flower beds all around their home. When she was able she enjoyed getting out to go fishing. Karen was good in the kitchen and was an accomplished baker and was known for her pumpkin bars and homemade bread. Karen passed away at their home in rural Amery on Sunday morning, February 22, 2015 at the age of 66 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Gary and Randy. Surviving family members include her husband Owen; sons: Justin and Matt; brothers Richard and Duane Vadner; sisters: Linda Larson, Sandy Anderson and Joanne Erickson as well as other relatives and friends.


Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Amery on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. There will be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a private family interment at the Amery Cemetery at a later time.
