Kathy Swartzell age 66 born November 13, 1946 of Amery, WI passed away on May 25th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kathy is survived by her husband Leon Alden, children Jody (Bob-Hopper) Gilbertson, Julie (Josh) Riendeau, Michele Deville, Mark (Brianna Swanson) Anderson, Pat (Jen) Alden, Deborah Alden, grandchildren Alex, Brooke, Matt, Mike, Danielle, Jordan, Shae, Chloe, Haley, Mara, Stephanie and Matt, sisters Nancy Nelson and Bonnie Hughes, nieces, nephews, family and many friends. Kathy is preceded in death by her father Eugene and mother Yvonne. She grew up in Bloomington, MN but moved to Amery her senior year of high school. Before graduating she won the title of Ms. Amery and was also the first girl in Wisconsin to be an FFA queen. Kathy graduated from Amery High School in 1964 and went on to earn a drafting degree.
She worked at Fabritek along with other careers and eventually owned a successful business with H & R Block. Kathy most enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends, playing with her grandchildren, traveling, going to the casino and always lived life to the fullest. She will be remembered for her warm and caring nature, her love and concern for others, her positive attitude, sense of humor and her unbounded hope, strength and selfless determination in her battle with cancer. Kathy touched the lives of so many people and left a footprint on the hearts of everyone she met. She was an angel on earth and her inspiration and smile will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 30th at Moe Lutheran Church, 45th Avenue, Clear Lake, WI, there will be a visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 on Thursday at the church.
