Kathleen Goldie Swanson, age 71 of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her home. She was born on October 24, 1941 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Lee and Goldie (Bidina) Severson. She grew up in Eleva and attended school in Strum, Wisconsin. After high school, Kathy attended Medical Tech School in Minneapolis where she met her husband, Gene Swanson. After college she took a job at 3M. Kathy and Gene were united in marriage on January 7, 1960 at Bennett Valley Norwegian Lutheran Church near Mondovi, Wisconsin. After their marriage they lived in various places in the Twin Cities metro area where they raised three boys, eventually moving to New Richmond in the early 70's. The family made their home in different areas in Northwest Wisconsin before settling in Amery. Kathleen was active with the First Baptist Church in Amery and TOPS in Amery. She enjoyed casino trips to Turtle Lake and Vegas and also enjoyed vacationing, camping and the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lillian Anderson and brothers, Oscar and Thomas Severson. She is survived by her loving husband, Gene; sons, Craig (Lori), Jeff, and Terry (Shelley); nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; brothers, Stanley and Sherman Severson and a sister, Stella Haunschild, as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 from Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery as well as the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Casketbearers are Kathleen's grandchildren, Scott Swanson, Dana Weber, Alexander Swanson, Logan Swanson, Jesse Swanson, Amanda Swanson, Matthew Schmit, Seth Swanson and Nadia Swanson. Burial will be on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Naples Cemetery, South of Mondovi.
