LaVonne Marie Augustine was born on March 21, 1936 in Range, Wisconsin the daughter of Ray and Mathilda Helga (Peterson) Littlefield. She was Baptized and Confirmed at the Elim Lutheran Church. She attended high school in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin graduating as Valedictorian in 1954. She attended the Bethesda School of Nursing and was Salutatorian of the Class of 1957. She attended the Minnesota State University in Bemidji, Minnesota and earned her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology. She lived in Lansing, Michigan where she was a teacher, but later returned to nursing. On December 2, 1967 she was united in marriage to Frank Augustine and together they had two children. They lived in Edgerton, Wisconsin until they purchased a farm in Beaver Township in 1971. She worked in nursing in several places, but finished her nursing career with 23 years of service to Golden Age Manor in Amery where she retired in 2001. She was a lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church and was active in many ways in the church. She was a believer in education and really enjoyed sitting down and writing letters to friends and family. LaVonne had nice gardens and liked to bake, especially pies. In retirement she enjoyed traveling. LaVonne had moved to Edgewood Assisted living to be near her daughter and she passed away there on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the age of 78 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank and brother Rodney Littlefield and an infant sister Carol. Left to mourn are her daughter Rebecca Augustine and her children Ian and Genevieve Person; son Peter Augustine and his children Megan and Allison Augustine; brothers: Fred Littlefield and Max Littlefield; sisters: Ardala Littlefield and Delayne Green. She also leaves nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from Elim Lutheran Church in Range, Wisconsin. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Elim Cemetery.
