Leonard (Bud) Edward Harris, 96, died Monday March 13, 2017 at the Golden Age Manor in Amery, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife Gerry, Son Jeffery, Mother Frances, Father Louis, Sisters Lou and Evelyn, Brother-in-Law Paul, and many other friends.
He leaves behind his children (Daughter in law Barbara Harris), son Brad Harris (Faye), daughter Pamela Phillips (Robert), daughter Penny Warner, son Todd Harris and son Lee Harris. He also leaves behind 15 beloved grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was born at home on June 1, 1920 in Chetek Wisconsin. Bud graduated from Chetek High school in 1938. After graduating he worked at the box factory in Cameron. That fall he moved back to Chetek and worked at A.W. Smith's Men's Clothing and Dry Cleaning until 1942. He also worked for Pennington's Ice Cream in July and August. In April of 1942 he was married to Geraldine Issacson and in September that year he joined the Air Force. He attended basic training at Jefferson Barracks in Missouri, and then he was shipped to Truax Field in Madison, WI. There he had six months of military and police training and was later shipped to Rome, New York and onto Rantoul, Illinois. He trained for inspecting, rigging and repair of parachutes and harnesses. From there he went to Syracuse, New York and to Gene Autrey Air Base. Later he was shipped to Charleston, South Carolina where he was pulled from the unit to manage the parachute department training base. He was promoted Staff Sargeant and led a crew in the parachute shop. After being honorably discharged in 1945 he moved to Amery, WI with his wife and was employed at the L. Michael Dry cleaning plant. In 1947 he worked at Evenson's General Clothing Store and became the manager there in 1949. In 1951 Bud and Doctor A.R. Buchanan purchased B&B Clothing and in 1955 he became the sole owner. He retired in 1984.
Through the years Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, riding motorcycle, flying his plane and drinking coffee; but most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

Visitation for Bud Harris will be from 4 to 7pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Williamson ~ White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery. Interment with Military Honors will take place following the service at the Amery Cemetery.
