Linda Joann Toftness was born on September 14, 1948 in Darlington, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of John Paul and Laurabelle Mae (Frank) Coffey. She grew up in Argyle and graduated from high school there. She attended the Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1973 she was united in marriage in Florida to David Toftness and to this union four children were born. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri and lived there while David attended school. In 1979 they moved to Amery. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Amery and was active with the Jaycettes. She worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant, first for Classic Motor Books in Osceola and then at the Amery Regional Medical Center where she worked until 2005. Linda was an avid reader all her life. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and listening to music. Linda also liked Cajun dancing. Her greatest love in life was her family, and she found her utmost joy in raising children. In 2007 she moved to Riverbend in Amery and in 2009 moved to Golden Age Manor. She has battled Alzheimers Disease for the past 8 years. Linda died at Golden Age Manor in Amery on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the age of 64 years.
Her parents preceded her in death. Left to mourn are her children: Jennifer Toftness, Erika (Patrick) Toftness Kelly, Linnea (Nicholas) Eiden and Daniel Toftness. She also leaves a brother Joseph (Jeanette) Coffey; sisters: Maureen (Dave) Gaulrapp and Christine (Ralph) Murphy as well as other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Amery. There will be visitation on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
