Lois Elaine Gullickson was born in Crosby, Minnesota on November 14, 1924 the daughter of Lester and Minnie (Robinson) Hughes. They lived in Little Pine where she attended school through the 8th Grade. Due to illness she missed a lot of school and didn't return as the family couldn't afford it. On November 2, 1940 she was united in marriage to Lester William Gullickson in Crosby, Minnesota. They lived in Little Pine and daughter Marilyn was born in 1941. They moved to North Dakota in 1942 and Lester helped harvesting crops. They settled in Valley City, North Dakota where he worked at Piggly Wiggly until starting his long career with Gambles. Linda was born there in 1942. In 1943 they moved to Crosby where Kathleen was born and Lester was serving in the Navy during the war. From 1945 to 1948 they were in Grafton, North Dakota, then from 1948 to 1952 they were in Crookston and Keith was born, and from 1952 until 1955 they were in Huron, South Dakota where Kerry was born. All these moves were due to job transfers with Gambles. From 1952 until 1959 they were in North Saint Paul where they owned their first store and Lois went to work with Les. Until this time Lois had been a homemaker. In 1959 they moved to Amery, Wisconsin and operated the Gambles Store there for many years. She moved to Water's Edge and in 2012 she started the early stages of dementia. She spent two months living with Kathy before going to Golden Age Manor. During her lifetime Lois kept busy with family, but found time for sewing, crocheting, needle point, quilting, bowling, square dancing and playing cards. She was also active at First Lutheran Church in Circle and was a member of homemakers as well. Lois loved to travel and over the years made many trips with Gambles. Lois died at Golden Age Manor in Amery on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the age of 90 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester, son Keith, granddaughter Debra Runkle Maxon, great great granddaughter Charlotte Jean Maroschek, brothers: Edwin Hughes and Orville Hughes; sister Lucille Evans; brothers-in-law: Leno Callisto, Dale Evans and Dilton Johnson; and son-in-law Allan Ray Runkle. Surviving family members include her children: Marilyn Erkenbrack (Ted), Linda Zick (Dave), Kathleen Maxon (Marv), and Kerry Gullickson (Trudy); fifteen grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Amery on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
