Obituary

Loren Robert Pickard was born on April 9, 1921 in Connorsville, Wisconsin the son of William and Ruth (nee: Fagenstrom) Pickard. He attended Downing High School in Downing, Wisconsin graduating in 1940. On August 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Arlene Miller and to this union four children were born. Loren operated a dairy farm in New Richmond and also delivered fuel oil and gasoline for the St. Croix Oil Company. He left dairy farming and purchased the North Star Gas Station in Richardson, Wisconsin. He operated the station as well as delivering fuel and gas. He sold his own business and worked as a truck driver delivering fuel for Walt Andren in Amery, Wisconsin. He then worked at the Clear Lake Creamery in Clear Lake and Barron for several years. Before retiring he decided to go back into business for himself and operated the West Side Gas Station in Clear Lake and delivering fuel. On June 26, 1999 he was united in marriage to Betty Johnston. Loren loved the outdoors and all the things it offered. Hunting at Deer Trail Camp at Lost Land Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin and making maple syrup in the spring of the year. He also enjoyed hunting trips to Colorado with his brother
Eugene, and nephew Jim. Once Lorne lived on Lake Magnor you would often find him out on his pontoon with a fishing line in the water. He has been a resident of the River Bend Memory Care Center in Amery and passed away there on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the age of 92 years.
Loren was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, wife Betty, his parents, son Gary, son-ion-law Dennis Meyer, brothers: Wilmer and Eugene, sister Leona Bulman, grandchildren Tony Hellstern and Rhonda Hellstern. He is survived by: daughter Audrey Meyer; sons: Bill (Melody) Pickard and Brad (Jannell) Pickard; daughter-in-law Linda Bratteig; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Clayton. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the New Haven Cemetery.
