Lorraine Marie Oberli's Obituary
Lorraine Marie (Heiser) Oberli was born on November 16, 1922 in Plain, Wisconsin to George and Catherine Heiser, and was one of five children. Her early years were spent at Plain where she attended grade and high school at St. Lukes. After graduation from high school, she worked as a nurse's aide at St. Mary's Hospital and later worked as a telephone operator at the Madison Telephone Company. She was also employed at Ray O Vac and Oscar Meyers in Madison. In 1952 she married William Oberli in Rockford, Illinois. There she was employed as a United States Government Inspector at a Millimeter Shell plant and at Sunstrand Aviation for a number of years. In 1956, they purchased a farm in Spirit, Wisconsin and farmed for several years. When her husband died on February 22, 1969, she decided to attend college, first at Medford University for one year and after moving to Amery, Wisconsin, attended River Falls University. She graduated in 1973 in Communicative Disorders as a Speech Pathologist. She located employment at the Boscobel Public Schools, remaining there for 20 years. She retired in 1993, moving to the Fox Creek area with her brother, Florian (Bud) Heiser. She passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:35 pm at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN. Lorraine was a catechist at Immaculate Conception in Boscobel for a number of years and was also active at St. Joseph Church in Amery as a Eucharistic Minister and as a money counter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sons, Wayne and James; four grandchildren, Daniel, Mark, Nathan and Jonathan and great grandchildren, Carter, Katlyn, Jacob and Jerome. Her brother, Florian (Bud) also survives her. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from the Church of the Holy Trinity in Winsted, MN. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Spirit-Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit Township, WI.
