Obituary

Louise Joan Wright, age 91, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery.

Louise was born in Paullina, IA on April 6, 1935 to Lawrence and Florence (Draper) Henderson. She attended Paullina grade school and graduated from Paullina High School in 1953. After high school, she attended Northwestern Bible college in Minneapolis, MN. Following her schooling she worked at the Kellog’s Company as a secretary in the twin cities.

Louise met Glen Wright at Moulton’s Roller Dome in Rush City, Minnesota. They had their first date on January 20, 1962 when they went to an auto show in Minneapolis. Louise and Glen were married in Cherokee, Iowa on December 29, 1962, and to this union two sons joined, Stephen and Douglas.

Her faith was very important to her. Louise served the Lord in many capacities at church, including women’s group, church committees, specifically building and secretary committees, teaching, and singing, and being active in vacation bible school—she was always active. She was also a part of 4-H Leaders, Apple River Homemakers, and played with the Elmer Family Band. Many of her musical talents included playing the mandolin, accordion, and the piano. In 1991, their youngest son, Douglas, passed away. Louise and Glen then spent many years leading Grief Share where they met and helped many people struggling with loss through this support group.

She was a member of Christian Campers, would enjoy trips to Bible camps like Skonewood and Arrowhead, as well as many trips with “the gang” to places including Minnesota's North Shore; Banff, Canada; Glacier National Park, and local music gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; parents, Florence and Lawrence; her son, Douglas; brothers, Merritt, Joseph, Percy, Wilson, and Francis; sisters, Opal and Beatrice.

She is survived by her son, Stephen (Denise) Wright; grandchildren, Charles, Calvin, Corbin (Alice), and Clara; twin brother, Louis; step-sister, Macil and many other loving friends and family.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. Her celebration of life will be held 11:00am on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Apple River Community Church in Amery with a visitation one hour prior.

The family would like to thank Willow Ridge Healthcare and Adoray Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion Louise received.
