Loyd Lane Pilgrim was born on July 20, 1959 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin the son of James Pilgrim and Betty Leggitt. He passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 1:26 p.m. from a heart attack at the age of 56 years. Living on the Pilgrim family farm engraved a strong work ethic in Loyd, and also gave him his passion for scrap. He would ride his bicycle around from farm to farm with his wagon and collect scrap metal. Loyd and his partner Dale Karis started Lad Auto Crushing in the mid 1980's. They made it a very successful business and it will continue to grow as his legacy. Loyd enjoyed being around his family and friends. He was always the first one there if you needed help. Being a very kind hearted man; he touched many lives and made so many friends.
Loyd was preceded in death by his father James Pilgrim, his brother Dan Pilgrim, and his mother Betty Leggitt. His survivors include his wife Sara Pilgrim and their daughter Kylie, daughters: Kitty Smith and Kelly Smith and their mother Barbara Smith, Amy Krusell and Alicia Pilgrim whose mother was the late Cheryl Krusell, Mitchell and Marcus Hoverman, Emily Johnson and their mother Kay Hoverman; his grandchildren: Zane, Lillian, Alek, Silas, Miles, Rose, Riley and Jameson; brother Lee W. Pilgrim as well as other relatives and friends.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Monday December 14, 2015 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Amery Community Center, 608 Harriman Ave S. in Amery.
