Mae Virginia L'Allier, age 80, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
She was born in Amery, WI to Guy and Alice (Palm) Whitmer on March 4, 1945. She graduated from Amery High School in 1963. On June 10, 1963, Mae married Rodney L'Allier, and to this union they had three children. Mae and Rodney later divorced in 1993. In 1994, Mae met Earl Sprester and they lived together for 19 years until his death in 2013.
Mae's first job was as a cook at Indianhead Supper Club. After working there, she worked at local factories until she retired at age 72.
Mae liked gardening, dancing, playing cards, and putting puzzles together. Her favorite thing though was hanging out with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd; siblings, Orv, Lee, Dewey, and Delloris; partner, Earl Sprester; and ex-husband, Rodney. Mae is survived by her son, Wayne; daughter, Dawn (Bryce) Cain; grandchildren, Nicole (Nick) Messicci and Jacklyn (Austin Sheffer) Cain; great-grandson, Wesley Jay Sheffer; and siblings, Gail Whitmer, Quentin Whitmer, Lela Reylek, and Crystal Bibeau.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin. There will be a visitation 2 hours prior the service, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
