Obituary

Margaret A. "Reta" Thompson was born on July 23, 1927 in Amery, Wisconsin the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Strohbeen) Lambert. She grew up in Amery and attended the Amery School graduating with the class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Neil Thompson and together they had three children. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. Reta enjoyed golfing and crocheting, but was an avid bowler and bowled in league for many years. She was a fixture at Chet Johnson Drug Store, working for them for many years. Reta was an avid sports fan and spent many hours watching her children and grandsons in sports and other activities. She lived at Golden Age Manor for a short time before moving to Amery Memory Care. Reta passed away at the Amery Hospital on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the age of 88.
Reta was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Beverly Rehm. Surviving family members include her children: Ronn (JoAnn) Thompson, Doug (Gina) Thompson, and Toni (Pete) Birkhofer; grandchildren: Nick, Seth, Cody and Matt Thompson and Taylor and Caitlin Leonard; Sisters: Ardys (Don) Brittain, Bernie (Dick) Henderson, Donnie Ginalias; Brother Richard (Marlys) Lambert and other relatives and friends.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. There will be visitation at the Williamson-White Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
