Marion June Johnson Lindberg was born on the family farm near Deer Park, Wisconsin on June 12, 1921. She was the fifth child born to Minnie and August Johnson in a family of six children. She enjoyed growing up in a very hardworking, close, happy, loving and religious farm family. She had strong lifelong relationships with her brother, Raymond Johnson and her sisters, Ruth Johnson Irle and Ardys Johnson Friedrick. She graduated from Amery High School and continued her education at Polk County Normal School. She began teaching at the age of 15 in a one room school house with children of all ages and grade levels. She lived with a family at Pine Lake which was close to the school where she was teaching, and walked to the school early to start the wood stove every morning, with the help of some of her students. Marion married Adlore Lindberg on June 21st, 1942 at East Immanuel Lutheran Church. She moved to Baldwin, Wisconsin where Adlore (Ad) worked as a butcher for his Uncle's grocery store. Marion and Ad moved to New Richmond, Wisconsin to work with the Lindberg family at Lindy's Super Market where Ad was in charge of the meat market and locker plant. Marion worked as the bookkeeper for Lindy's until the store was sold in the early 1960's. Their daughter, Dianne June was born in 1944 and is a graduate in Home Economics from University of Wisconsin-Stout and is married to Eugene Hallongren, also a U of W-Stout graduate. They have two sons, Brett and Brady, and two grandchildren, Kyle and Rachel. Marion was very proud of her two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. After retiring from Lindy's, Marion worked at the New Richmond elementary grade school for several years in the library and enjoyed every day. Throughout her life she was an avid reader and enjoyed passing this gift on to students. Marion and Ad moved to Balsam Lake, Wisconsin where Marion enjoyed singing in the church choir and they enjoyed having many friends to share boating, fishing, sunsets, and coffee. The coffee pot was always ready to provide coffee and cookies. When Ad began having difficulties with Parkinson's, Marion and Ad moved to Pondhurst in Amery, where they enjoyed friendships with new neighbors. After Ad passed away, Marion enjoyed several more years in Pondhurst before moving to Evergreen in Amery. At Evergreen she enjoyed making new friends and renewing friendships with classmates that she graduated with from Amery High School. Marion spent her last years at Oakbrook Care Center in Oakbrook, Illinois, which is located ten minutes from her daughter, Dianne and family. The family was then able to enjoy and visit mom and grandma often. Marion passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Oakbrook Care Center. Funeral services for Marion will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 from the East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the East Immanuel Cemetery.
