Marlin "Whitey" Gene Ostenson, age 80, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Golden Age Manor in Amery. He was born on January 13, 1934 in Clayton, Wisconsin, to Albert and Flossie (Marlowe) Ostenson. He was raised in the Clayton area and spent his life working on farms in the Clayton, Clear Lake and Turtle Lake areas. He was united in marriage to Elsie Katherine Campbell on October 31, 1970. The couple had a hobby farm where they raised chickens, rabbits, goats, and peacocks. They also had many poodles over the years that they adored. Marlin was a member of the Teamsters Union and loved farming and working on farms. Marlin and Elsie farmed until they decided to make their home at the Oakbrook Apartments. For the last 4 years, Golden Age Manor has been Marlin's home. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie Katherine; brothers, Milton and Marvin, and a sister, Delores Swagger. He is survived by sisters, Deloise Koehler and Diane (Jerry) Richter; a brother, Brian Ostenson; special friend, Vickie Anderson, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home chapel in Amery. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Marlin and his wife, Elsie, who preceded him in death in January, will be interred together at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, later this spring.
