Michael Norman Austvold, age 73, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Michael is survived by his wife of 23 years, Oralee Schock; His sister Emily (Austvold) Peterson residing in Ladysmith, WI; His first wife Janell (Riley) Miller residing in Baraboo, WI with whom they had three children; his son, Eric Austvold and his wife, Christine (Scrimale) Austvold residing in the Greater Boston MA Area with grandchildren Mitchell (17), Grace (15) and Abigail (13); his son Shawn Austvold and his wife Jennifer (Lipinski) Austvold residing in the Greater Rochester MN Area with grandson Calvin (19); and his daughter, Shannon (Austvold) Skolaski and her husband James Skolaski residing in the Greater Madison, WI Area with grandsons Ivan (8) and Croix (7). He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Portia Austvold and a brother Dana Austvold.

Born and raised in Ladysmith, WI the son of Norman and Portia (Amidon) Austvold, he was a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, living for the last 40 years in the Clear Lake and Amery WI communities.

In his early years, Michael was a bag boy and butcher in the family's Ladysmith grocery business, Economy Food Store. Shortly after graduating from Ladysmith High School in 1961, he left the family business and embarked on a career in banking, starting as a teller, then loan officer and progressing to bank President. He was a lifelong financial advisor to many families and businesses in several small community banks in the Midwest, making a career out of turning around troubled community banks and making them a vibrant part of the community. Michael took great pride in his banking career and truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Over the years, his banking expertise and reputation afforded him the opportunity to be an active community leader serving in the Jaycees, Lions Club, Shriners, Elks Club, the volunteer fire department of Clear Lake, and the Amery Fall Festival. "Big Mike" had a passion for the outdoors showcased by his avid hunting and fishing hobbies, something that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was adept at slaying fish during the day and cooking up a fantastic fresh fish dinner as an evening meal. The family would often close out our days enjoying stories about "the one that got away" while sitting around the camp fire. Fond memories indeed.

Michael will be sadly missed by his friends and family and members of the extended Schock family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Pastor Keith Ruehlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Williamson~White Funeral Home, 222 Harriman Avenue North Amery, Wisconsin 54001 and for one hour prior to the service at the Church.

Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association or to the family to be dispersed locally.
