Michael David Johnson was born in Amery, Wisconsin on September 18, 1949 the son of Raymond and Lois (Carlson) Johnson. He grew up in the Amery area. He was Baptized and Confirmed at the Balsam Lutheran Church in rural Amery. After he finished school he entered the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1970. When he returned home he worked at Andersen Window for a period of time and then worked in construction with a Lester's crew. He did a lot of cement work and eventually became a member of local 132 Cement Labor Union. He spent his remaining work years doing cement work. On December 10, 1977 he was united in marriage to Diane Lynn Kjeseth and they had one son, Shon. They made their home in rural Amery where Mike enjoyed the hunting and fishing the area offered. We was also an avid motorcycle rider and made many trips around the country. He made several trips to Arizona to go 4 wheeling in the mountains there. No matter what, there was always time for the grandchildren, Donovan and Samantha. The past years Mike has battled vascular disease in his legs, and endured many surgeries. He was hospitalized at the Minneapolis VA Center with complications of his vascular disease and died there on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 65 years.
His father Raymond Johnson and step-father Ellis Lovegren preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Diane; son Shon and his wife Jolene; grandchildren Donovan and Samantha; mother Lois Lovegren; brother John Johnson and his wife Pam; sisters: Linda Cords, Mary Johnson and Debra Kay and her husband Chris. He also leaves other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deronda Lutheran Church in rural Amery. Burial will be at the Deronda Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church.
