Mildred Louise Severson died at the Amery Regional Medical Center on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the age of 94 years. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery. Visitation will be Thursday, Februray 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the East Immanuel Cemetery.
Mildred L. Severson was born on July 20, 1918, in Duluth, MN to Paul and Evelyn Larson. She grew up and attended school in the Moose Lake, MN area. Shortly after graduating high school she married Thomas Severson in July 1937 and resided in Cloquet, MN for 2 yrs.
They moved to the Deer Park area where Thomas was originally from. They raised a family and farmed for many years. She also enjoyed her church which is East Immanuel Lutheran located south of Amery.
Mildred (Millie) and Thomas (Tom) retired and moved to a house in Amery in 1979. She lived there until her move to Golden Age Manor 2010. Mildred passed away suddenly at Amery Regional Medical Center on February 18, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother; her husband's parents, also husband Thomas, infant son Thomas Jr. and her brother Howard Larson.
Mildred is survived by daughters, Judie Johannsen (Bob) and Nancy Severson (Mike Hoffman), and sons, Bill Severson (Kathy) and Dennis Severson (Laura Allen).
Grandchildren, Kim Johannsen MacKinnon (Cory), Randy Johannsen (Juliann), Tom Johannsen (Kimberly), Laurie Severson, Patti Severson Elfers (Dave), Wendy Severson Albee (Bob), Adam Severson(Renee) and Emily Severson, step-grandchildren Ashley Allen and Jon Mish.
Mildred has 12 great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
Mildred is also survived by her brother, Lyle Larson (Vera) of Appleton, MN and her sister Edith Swenson of San Marcos, TX. , Sister in-Law Eleanor Larson of Silver Bay, MN also many nieces, nephews, friends and special neighbors.
