Nancy C. Johnson, age 77 of Amery died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the funeral home as well as for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI at a later date.

Nancy (Mckinstry) Johnson died at home Saturday Feb 4th, 2012. Nancy was born Aug 16th, 1934 to Tom and Helen McKinstry, on a farm north of Range in the town of Beaver. She graduated from Amery High School in 1952. After graduation, she moved to Iowa to attend Dental Hygienists School, but returned home after a few weeks do to homesickness. While working as a waitress at the Amery Hotel, she met Stanley Johnson. Nancy married Stanley Johnson on July 5th, 1953. After marrying Stanley, they moved to Milwaukee for a 14years and then to Green Bay for about 3years before returning back to the Amery area where they grew up. Nancy and Stanley raised 5 children: Doug (Patti) Johnson, Diane Burrit, Denise Christiansen, Dean Johnson, and Donnamae (Waynne) Bjurstrom. Nancy was someone who loved being in the outdoors working in her gardens. Her favorite flower was the Yellow Rose. They enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, especially the Pileated Wood-peckers. She loved to dance. She enjoyed making maple syrup in the springtime with her husband Stanley, and sharing it with their children at Christmas time. They owned and operated the Lake Magnor Store until 1986, and then Nancy worked for a greenhouse-nursery in Balsam Lake. Nancy spent the majority of her life doing what she loved, being a homemaker. Being a homemaker allowed her to raise their kids, do all kinds of crafts, enjoy her love of ceramics and even an occasional garage sale or two. Nancy hand made clothes for her children as they grew up. She loved to cook, she was known for her lefsa and banana bread, especially during the holiday season. She always had coffee and snacks ready for anyone who may stop in; they loved it when people would drop in and visit. Nancy was a vital cornerstone of the family. She was everyone's rock, and she enjoyed having her family and friends around her. She is survived by her husband Stanley; sons: Doug (Patti) and Dean; daughters: Diane, Denise Christiansen and Donnamae (Waynne) Bjurstrom; one brother, Tom (Joanne) McKinstry, sisters Cora Lee Kuhnley, and Dorothy (John) Sprecher. They also have 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Audrey (Art Fredrickson), brother Donovan and sister DonnaLou.
