Obituary

Loving wife and mother, Norma Ann (Doerr) Otto, passed away on January 10, 2024, in Amery, WI. Norma was 73 years old.

Norma was born to Walter and Vera (Fischer) Doerr on July 28, 1950 in Glencoe, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in Stewart, MN and graduated third in the class of 1968. Norma began teaching Sunday School as a high school student, and continuing until the last few years of her life. She pursued studies at Mankato State University. She returned and bonded with her dad, while working alongside him, on the farm. Finding love, she was united in marriage to Douglas Raymond Otto, on November 7, 1971. In the summer of 1972, she survived an extreme case of encephalitis. A couple years later, Doug and Norma welcomed their first child. Little did they know, five more were to follow, totaling 4 boys and 2 girls. She was so proud to have a large family of great children. After starting their life together, in Hutchinson, MN, Doug and Norma set out on their own adventure, landing in Clayton, WI. Norma balanced raising kids, serving at the United Covenant Church of Clear Lake, WI, and contributing to the family with an eclectic assortment of creative solutions and jobs. Norma was sure to share the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ with her children and with others. Norma had a good sense of humor, enjoyed visiting, and was an affectionate encourager.

Now that Norma has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on Earth, it's the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. Norma joins her parents and firstborn son, Jonathan, in Heaven.

Norma is survived by her loving husband, Douglas and her children: Gwyn Otto (wife of Jonathan) of Amery, WI, Kevin and (wife) Michelle Otto of Eau Claire, WI, Ryan and (wife) Lacy Otto of Cumberland, WI, Justin and (wife) Crystal Otto of Lindstrom, MN, Kristin and (husband) Matthew King of Stanton, IA, and Gretchen and (husband) Daniel Wallberg of Clear Lake, WI.  Her grandchildren: Jon's children: Mykaela and (husband) Dominick Thompson, Andrew and (fiancé) Rebekah, and Samuel and (fiancé) Macey; Kevin's children: Allison and Ashley; Ryan's children: Ryley, Gabriella, and Elliot; Justin's children: Isabelle, Katelyn, and Emily; Kristin's children: Axel, Kennedy, Rhys, and Pippa; Gretchen's children: Rian and Ellamae; and her first great-grand child: Lawrence Jon Thompson. She is also survived by her two brothers, Norbert Doerr and Larry Doerr, along with many in-laws, dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
