Odile June Prather was born in Catawba, Wisconsin on June 17th 1927 to Frederick and Josephine Vollendorf. She was the eleventh child of twelve siblings that grew up in Catawba: Esther, Elsie, Eleanor, Meta, Frederick, Marion, Mildred, Rosemary, Robert, Evelyn, and Gladys. Odie had many jobs in life, but her passion was baking and decorating cakes for special occasions, especially for family members. Her other pastimes included cooking, gardening and picking berries. She loved conversation and Odie entertained her family and friends with her lively personality and sense of humor.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Linda Diane Prather, her son-in-law Ross Carbaugh, her parents, and ten of her siblings. She is survived by her sister Rosemary Litvinoff, her children-Sandra Kjeseth (Larry), Candace Carbaugh (Ross), Randolph Prather (Vernita), Pamela Prather, and Christine Crotteau; grandchildren-Scott Kjeseth (Holly), Missy Benik (Anthony), Teri Zastrow (Gregg), Jenni Cook (Eric), Jill Davis (Craig), Randy Prather(MiKinsey), Casandra Prather, Alisa Crotteau, Adam Crotteau, Marcus Snow, and Erica Snow; great-grandchildren-A.J. Benik, Tyler Benik, Bergen Kjeseth, Gage Zastrow, Fletcher Kjeseth, Grant Zastrow, Ross Cook, Mallory Kjeseth, Sydney Davis, Lili Cook, Margaret Davis, Brody Prather, and Samuel Davis.
Odile passed away peacefully at 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17th at The Amery Hospital and Clinic with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Deronda Lutheran Church, 1239 65th Avenue, Amery, WI. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to services from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. A private family interment will take place the Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith, Wisconsin at a later date.
