ONILEA MARY SONDREAL
Funeral services for Onilea Sondreal, 88, Amery will be held Wednesday, Feb. 16, at First Lutheran Church in Amery at 1:30 p.m. Visitation is at noon at the church prior to the service. Pastor Timothy Bjorge will officiate and music will be provided by Julie Selle. A private family interment will take place at the Amery Cemetery. Onilea died at Riverbend Senior Living facility in Amery Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011. Onilea Mary Sondreal was born May 5, 1922 in St. Louis Park, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Edna (Reedfield) Fisher. As a teenager she moved with her family to Istanti, Minnesota in 1936, following the pre-mature death of her father. She attended Cambridge High School and graduated in 1940. On Jan. 10, 1941, she married Palmer H. Sondreal in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. The couple lived in Culbertson, Mont., and Montevideo, Minn., prior to arriving in Amery in December of 1941.
She was active in both Boy and Girl Scouting, ARVM Auxiliary, several bridge clubs, First Lutheran Church and an avid golfer. And she was a sixty year member of the South Street Birthday Club and "Sudsers" coffee klatch.
Preceding her in death were husband, Palmer; sisters, Marjorie Johnson and Helen Mae Hage; brothers, George and Robert; grandson, Jack Sondreal and son-in-law, Mike Evans. Surviving are sons, Jerry and Steve (Paula); daughters, Sally Sondreal, Jane (Larry) Gorres and Katie Evans. Grandchildren, Pat, Tae, Joe, Chris, Sean, Tim, Megan and Maureen
Sondreal; Michelle, Ben and Greg Gorres; and Liz, Becky and Laura Evans. And great-grandchildren, Hannah, Simon, Zach, Jake, Gavin, Olevia Sondreal,Theo Sondreal Roy, Allie and Ryan Weiland and Chloe Gorres.
