Rachel Vivian Shay, age 83, passed away January 20th at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN, surrounded by her children. She was born on January 7, 1932 in the Stanton area of New Richmond, WI to Thomas and Rose (nee Sieh) McNamara, the last of eight daughters. She is preceded in death by her husband, William L. Shay, Sr., and six sisters; and is survived by her seven children: Thomas (Kimberly), William, Jr. (Valerie), Cynthia Koller, Patrick (Tiffiny), Michael (Cynthia), Renee Shay, and Robert (Lisa); sister Ruth Ann Chessey; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Rachel graduated from New Richmond High School and worked at the First National Bank. Rachel and husband Bill owned and operated the Laurel Supper Club in rural New Richmond during the 1970s-80s before she returned to work at the First National Bank until retiring to their lake home in Amery. She served as a Eucharistic minister, was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan and she loved traveling, fishing, cooking, canning, and playing cards.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1050 Keller Avenue North Amery, WI. Visitation 4-8 PM Friday January 23, 2015 at Williamson-White Funeral Home 222 Harriman Avenue North Amery, WI also one hour prior to Mass at church. Burial at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery in Somerset, WI.
