Rae G. Wagner was born February 12, 1918 in Burton, OH, the oldest of 13 children to Daniel and Hazel (Cain) Gwinn. She grew up in and graduated from high school in Burton. After high school, she moved to Seattle, WA. While living in Seattle, she attended business school and worked as a nanny for wealthy families. Rae then moved back to Burton and was united in marriage to Harry Wagner in 1944. Their daughter, Maple was born in 1948 in Chardon, OH. In 1951 the family moved to Turtle Lake, WI where they dairy farmed for six years. The family then moved to Missouri for several years before returning to Wisconsin where Rae spent the remainder of her life. She worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis and retired in 1986. Rae most enjoyed decorating Christmas cookies with her great grandchildren for many years. Rae was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She loved books and reading, and knew all the sports stats, especially baseball. She was a great cook and baker, and was known for her éclairs. On July 29, 2015 Rae passed away at the Willow Ridge Health Care Center in Amery where she currently resided due to health issues. Rae was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, husband, Harry and son in law, Butch. She is survived by her daughter, Maple Christensen of Clear Lake; grandson, Darryl (Cheryl) Christensen of Amery and their children, Trent, Lane and Aleiya; granddaughter, Vicki (Jim) Vangsness of Clear Lake and their children, Jaici, Tanae, Rayne and two sisters, Margie and Carolyn. Rae will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Darryl and Cheryl Christensen, 935 Sunflower Way, Amery, WI on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to share memories, pictures and stories of times spent with Rae.
