Raymond Sandin, age 97 of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Willow Ridge Health Care facility in Amery. He was born on August 5, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN to Severn and Julia (Johnson) Sandin. He grew up on a farm in Clear Lake, WI. He was united in marriage to Evalyne (Dalke) and to this union two daughters, Elaine and Linnea, were born. The family then made their home in Evanston, Illinois. Raymond had many different jobs throughout his life. He bought and worked on a farm in Amery, and also managed a farm for his neighbors. He drove truck for Amery's Lakeside Pea Factory, was a short order cook, a mechanic, a laundry worker, and built Douglas Aircraft planes. For 24 years he was employed as an engineer at the Amery Hospital. Raymond enjoyed archery, hunting, fishing and camping, walking, playing chess, reading, and watching Westerns. He was also musically talented and played the tuba, guitar, accordion, organ and violin. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evalyne and daughter, Linnea Rae Phillipson. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Sandin, son-in-law, Larry Phillipson and grandson, Sandin (Karen) Phillipson. A private family service and interment will take place at the Swedish Congregational Cemetery in Clear Lake.
