Richard Steven Adams was born the son of Joseph and Joanne (Illies) Adams in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 5, 1959. He spent his childhood in North Minneapolis. His family moved to rural Amery when he was a teenager and he attended Amery High School. His father was a cabinet maker and he grew up learning the trade. After he graduated he worked for his father for a number of years. When he ventured out on his own he worked for several contractors in the area, two of them being A & B Contractors and later Adams Construction. He was able to get a job at Center Point Marketing where he was involved in building marketing displays that were taken all over the world. On September 30, 2000 he was united in marriage to Bette Curtis. They built a home near Wanderoos where they have lived since that time. They also had a cabin "up north" on Yellow Lake where they enjoyed spending time. Richard served on the Garfield Fire Department and was also a member of the Wanderoos Lion's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting over the years. Richard died at Region's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday, September 5, 20015 at the age of 56.
His parents and daughter Sunshine preceded him in death. Left to mourn are his wife Bette; sons: Ricky (Sachi) Adams, Bob (Gail) Curtis, Bryan (Nadine) Curtis and Steve (Kate) Curtis; daughter Denise (Paul) Schmitz; 15 grandchildren; brothers: Joe (Karen) Adams, Roundy Adams and Bob (Connie) Adams; sister Sue (Rob) Benjamin as well as other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 4 p.m.. There will be a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.
