Richard "Dick" Russell Hanson was born August 20, 1931 in Deer Park, Wisconsin, the son of Russell and Mildred (Olufson) Hanson. He was baptized in Amery and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Amery, WI. He attended Amery Schools, graduating in 1949.Dick served in the United States Marine Corp from 1952 to 1954. He was then employed by NSP for many years before becoming a full time dairy farmer. He was married on December 6, 1958 to Sylvia Peterson and they had four children. He enjoyed farming, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Dick passed away on Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was 79. He is survived by his one daughter and three sons: Theresa Harrison of Aspen, CO; Rick Hanson and wife, Kim of Turtle Lake, WI; Randy Hanson and wife, Claire of Amery, WI; and Ron Hanson and wife, Lisa of Amery, WI, along with twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will held on at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
