Surrounded by his loving family on his final day, Richard B. Scott died Wednesday, January 9th at the Golden Age Manor Nursing home. He was 83.
Dick was born December 18, 1929 in Detroit, MI, to Bruce R. and Elsie D. (Gilson) Scott. He was raised in Ontonagon, MI, graduating from Ontonagon Area High School in 1947. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served 3 years active duty and then joined the reserves. After serving his country, Dick attended ACME School of Tool and Die Design in South Bend, IN. His education was interrupted while he recovered from a serious automobile accident, fell in love, and married Clara May Colclasure in March of 1955.
After graduation, Dick began what would become some 30 years with the West Bend Aluminum Co. in West Bend, WI. It was in West Bend that Dick and Clara raised two sons and a daughter. Upon his semi-retirement, he and Clara moved to Tucson, AZ. Three years ago they moved back to WI and settled in Amery to be close to family, especially their grandchildren.
Dick enjoyed warm days spent on a cool patio, "toddy time," cooking on the grill, tinkering, a good book, and music with "some life to it." He loved time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Clara, Amery; children Bruce (Kathleen), Amery, Timothy (Louise), Cambridge, and Catherine, Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Tyler, Nichole, Madeline and Elizabeth; sister Merrie Carol (James) Daniels, sister-in-law Stella Giesau, sister-in-law Shirley (Edward) Skoviak, brother-in-law Jack (Bonnie) Colclasure, brother-in-law Michael Rubich, and sister-in-law Katherine Colclasure; and many dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law Roscoe and Nancy Colclasure; his brother Robert Scott, brother-in-law Merle Colclasure, Sister-in-law Mary Jane Rubich, and brother-in-law Robert Colclasure.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Golden Age Manor and St. Croix hospice, especially Tonya, for the exceptional care and compassion they gave Dick.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. from the Congregational Church in Amery with Pastor Barry Schaefer officiating. There will be a visitation at the Williamson-White Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church.
A memorial service will be held in Ontonagon, MI later this year prior to the burial of his remains in the Riverside Cemetery.
