Richard "Dick" S. Thorson age 63 of Cedar, MN formerly of Amery, WI died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on November 8, 2010. Dick was born in Mondovi, WI on June 28, 1947 to Fern (Cleasby) and Clarence Thorson. He grew up in Eau Claire, WI and attended Eau Claire area schools. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Dick served in the US Navy from 1965 until 1976, he was stationed in San Diego, CA and Key West, FL. He married Carol (Johnson) Strassman in 1967. He worked for NSP for over 20 years and was an active member of the Hudson and Amery Jaycees. In 1977 he married Judy (Waterman) Erickson in Amery, WI.
Dick is survived by his wife Judy and children, Chris (Nick) Armstrong of Milwaukee, WI, Tina (Scott) Milward of Bangor, WI, Tony (Katie) Erickson of Balsam Lake, WI, Curt (Anessa) Thorson of Eau Claire, WI, Brock (Rachel) Thorson of Isanti, MN, 13 grandchildren-all he loved dearly, and his sisters Patricia McCluskey and Karen Isaacson, both of Eau Claire, WI.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Thorson, Fern Knesley, and Step-Father Ed Knesley, his sisters Betty Boyd and Reva Sippel, and his brothers Berval Thorson and Roger Thorson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Williamson ~ White Funeral Home 222 Harriman Avenue N. Amery, WI (715) 268-7111 with Pastor Keith Ruehlow officiating. Music will be provided by Margaret Peterson and Sally Suckut. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be at the Amery Cemetery.
