Rick Wilson (age 72) of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on October 26, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rick was a great and loving husband, and a wonderful and doting father to his two precious daughters. He was enormously proud of both of them and often said the best thing that ever happened to him was being their Dad.
He was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Arden and Susie, and was the youngest of four children. In his early years, Rick was part of several bowling leagues with his dad and oldest brother. Rick was part of a Corvette Club in Nashville with his best friend Larry where he showed his white ‘77 Vette throughout the South, winning many trophies. After meeting and marrying the love of his life Lee, they moved to Amery where they raised their girls. He enjoyed going to all of the school activities, plays, and sporting events his daughters were involved in, always being their biggest cheerleader.
Rick loved listening to oldies, disco, and country music (especially The Judds). He also loved collecting clocks and Matchbox cars, cheering for the Packers and Titans, archiving on VHS, doing woodworking projects, bowling in several local bowling leagues, and spending time with his family.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Rick was able to take a trip to Green Bay (the mother field) and a partial trip on Route 66 (the mother road).
Rick was proud to serve his community for many years as a volunteer firefighter and first responder for Apple River Fire Department, and as a storm spotter for Polk County. He worked most of his life in the lumber business, but ultimately retired with the Amery School District.
He is survived by his wife (of nearly 40 years) Lee, his daughters Erica (son-in-law Mark) and Courtney (son-in-law Gavin), his sister Juanita, and two devoted cats Moochie and Riley who will all miss him beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Willie and Vernon.
A celebration of Rick Wilson’s life will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Straight 8 in Range.
