Rita Ann Glenna, 83, of Amery died peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023 surrounded by family at Riverbend Senior Living in Amery.
Rita was born to Andrew and Agneta Strom on April 3, 1940 in Hartington, Nebraska. She moved to Grantsburg, Wisconsin in 1953 with her family. On March 19, 1964, Rita married Robert Glenna. They moved to Amery with their two children in 1980 and lived together happily.
Rita devoted her life to children. Her beloved "babysitting" kids lined her kitchen and ran around her yard each day during the week, and every Sunday her red Tahoe was full as she headed to Georgetown Lutheran Church to teach Sunday School.
Rita created an environment where all felt welcome, which was evident by her regularly full kitchen table. Her home was often filled with a combination of family, neighbors and her "babysitting" kids – exactly how she liked it. Anyone who entered her home could count on a fresh piece of pie, a cup of coffee and a hug from Rita.
Rita is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert, two children, Rick (Kristine) Glenna and Randy (Charlotte) Glenna, six grandchildren, Nicole Glenna, Chazz (Nikky) Hegna, Rachel Glenna, Trevor Hegna, Joe Glenna and Courtney Glenna, and siblings, Richard (Dianne) Strom, Dianne (Richard) Hoffman, Patricia Brower and Gary (Norma) Wickstrom. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Duane Strom.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Georgetown Lutheran Church (877 190th Ave, Balsam Lake, WI), with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
