Robert Joseph Peterson of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his home.

Robert "Bob" Peterson was born on January 31, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Orlan Dale Peterson and Eleanor Bennett Peterson. Bob grew up in Chicago and graduated from Kelvyn Park High School. During his High School years, Bob belonged to the Northwest Speed Skating club (Oldest club in the United States). This sport later in life led him to become a coach and a national referee in the sport. Bob worked with the Mayor Richard Dailey Sr. Youth Foundation and was director of national events. After high school Bob serviced in the United States Air Force for the next four years. During this time he met and married Mary Willert of Two Rivers, Wisconsin. After being honorably discharged Bob and his family moved back to Illinois where he began a career as a construction estimator and supervisor first in the paving industry before branching out into excavating. After the loss of his wife Mary, a few years later, Bob got remarried to Maggie Nelson, a fellow speed skater. Bob had a great love of the outdoors, fishing, hunting and golfing.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marguerite; a son, Mark (Laurie) Peterson of Naperville, IL; 3 daughters, Carol (Steve) Lunder of Waunakee, Wisconsin, Elisabeth (Steve) Wolf of Beloit, Wisconsin and Angelica (Mike) Hollstadt of Elmwood, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren, Chris Lunder, Matt (Tara) Lunder, Mike (Steph) Berner, Kyle Berner, Walter, Charlie Hollstadt , Eric and Allie Peterson; a brother, Wayne (Ann) Peterson of Bemidji, Minnesota; a beloved cousin, Virginia Sass; a sister-in-law, Helene Full; brothers-in-law, Ed and Ken Willert and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Fritz Willert.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father John Drummy officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the Church. Interment will be held at the Amery Cemetery.
