Rosalie “Rosie” Ann Stener, age 75, of Amery, WI passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Rosie was born on February 14, 1951 in Amery, WI to Glenn and Norma (Turgeson) Bruner. She grew up and attended school in Amery. After graduating from high school in 1969, Rosie attended school in Superior, WI to obtain her LPN license.

One night at the Straight 8, Rosie met Rick Stener who was playing music there, and they quickly connected and Rosie started following him around to more of his gigs in the area. In 1973, they were united in marriage in Luck, WI at Judge Madsen’s Home. Rick and Rosie lived in Amery before moving to their home in Balsam Lake in 1976, where Rosie lived until her passing.

Rosie spent her nursing career working in various settings, including her first job at the Amery Hospital, over 28 years at Crestview Plaza (current day Willow Ridge), a nursing home in Osceola for a short time, and back to the Amery Hospital and Amery Behavioral Health before retiring. After her retirement, Rosie started her own business where she performed hand and foot care for people in their homes. Her care, attention to detail, and conversation would keep her at her clients’ homes for long appointments.

Over the years, Rosie received many letters from the countless families in the area that she took care of. She believed that everyone should be treated with dignity, and that was evident in the care and compassion that she touched so many lives with. Not only did she have a great love for people, she was also an animal lover. Rosie had many puppies over the years, most recently her special rescue doggie friend Ellie.

Rick and Rosie enjoyed doing many activities together including fishing, canoeing, going out to fine dining restaurants, music concerts and theater, often traveling to the twin cities. She loved Superior and the Duluth area where she went for her nurses training. They were able to spend a wonderful 53 years together finding new adventures.

Memorials may be directed to the Lupus Foundation or Scleroderma Foundation in honor of Rosie and her desire to always help and care for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Norma Bruner; niece, Char Barney; and brother-in-law, John Smith.

Rosie is survived by her loving husband, Rick; sisters, Janet Smith, Jean Bruner, Susan Lindholm (John Salwei), Kathy (Harvey) Letson, and Sheri (Robert) Rasmussen; and nieces and nephews, Matthew (Janelle) Smith, Jennifer (Jamie) Olsen, Lee Coleman, Kent (Wendy) Coleman, Stacy (Danny) Matson, Jeremy (Janelle) Paulson, Garrison (Kristen) Lindholm, Jason (Jodie) Barney, Josh (Kim) Gould, Jacob (Erin) Gould, Troy (Heather) Croes, and Darron (Emilie) Croes; as well as many other loving family and friends.

A private family service will take place at a later date.
