Rose Inez Dowd passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
Rose Inez (Schmidt) Dowd was born on September 4, 1922 in Minnesota to August and Rose (Cote) Schmidt. After graduating from a parochial school at age 18 she moved to Georgetown Township in Polk County, Wisconsin. She met Art Dowd at Holy Rosary Church. They married and lived on a farm where they raised 6 children. She had many jobs besides being a farmer's wife. She was a cook at Blake School and was very active in the church alter society and held offices with the Polk County Homemaker's. She worked at Ben Franklin and at a travel agency. Rose was an excellent seamstress, cook, baker and gardener. Many of her numerous friends and family members enjoyed her own "meals on wheels."
Rose is survived by her children, Thomas Dowd (Rita), Gloria (Jerry) Breault, Kathleen (Larry) Hanson, Michael (Pat) Dowd, Sharon McQuillan and Patti (Steve) Dahl, 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Art, her parents and 9 siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Gene Murphy officiating. Interment will be held at the Holy Rosary Cemetery following the services. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the Church.
