Ruby Tanner was born in Amery, Wisconsin on February 3, 1923 to Anna and Andrew Anderson. She grew up on the family farm in rural Clear Lake, Wisconsin and attended Oakview School. In 1940 she graduated from the Clear Lake High School. Ruby was employed as a bookkeeper at the Clear Lake Creamery during the war years. On December 12, 1946 she was joined in marriage to Gerald Tanner. Together they raised their three children on a small dairy farm in Clayton Township.
Ruby worked again as a bookkeeper at Belle Cheese in Amery, and later at F & A Dairy in Dresser, Wisconsin. She retired from F & A at age 69. She later went back to work for a few more years in the office of Dave's Auto Body in Amery. Ruby loved working in her flower gardens. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Amery, and later joined Apple River Community Church while her son Bruce was the pastor. Ruby resided the past few years at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery and passed away peacefully on April 20, 2016 at the age of 93.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Andrew Anderson, her brother Hulbert, and her husband Gerald Tanner. She leaves to mourn her brother Orville (Shirley) Anderson, her sons, Bruce (Ginger) Tanner, Wayne (Barb) Tanner, daughter Nancy (Richard) Wagner, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Apple River Community Church in rural Amery. A viewing and fellowship time will be for the two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the East Lincoln Cemetery.
