Ruth A. Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Amery Hospital in Amery, WI. Ruth was born on July 5, 1921 in Barron, WI to Warren and Mabel Knowlton. She resided at her family's home until she met Osmond Johnson, a milk tester, while she was working as a hired hand at a local farm in March of 1938. Ruth and Ozzie were married on May 24, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN. Shortly after marriage, the couple moved to a farm near Angus, WI. They lived there until 1960 when they moved to Milwaukee. Ruth worked at Downing Box Factory where she operated a machine that made boxes. In 1975, Ruth and Ozzie retired and moved to Cameron where they bought a home and one acre of land. They cleared away many pines and planted a garden of enormous proportions. They shared a love of gardening not only with each other, but with others as well. They opened Johnson's Vegetable Stand, and sold their produce for twenty years. After Ozzie's passing in 2003 Ruth continued gardening, but on a much smaller scale. In recent years Ruth could be found tending to her birds and flowers or mowing the lawn on her John Deere lawn mower at her home in Amery, WI where she lived for the past seven years. Ruth is survived by her children, Kathleen (Bill) Hargrave of Chetek, Nancy (Mick Rhode) Frazier of Rice Lake, Cheryl (Brian) McMahon of Franksville, Paul (Doris) Johnson of Ft. Wayne, IN, Charlene (Terry) Smith of Cameron and Jodi (Dan) Wilcox of Amery; her sweetheart of six years, Terry Boe of Amery, 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4 to 6 pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11 am at the Williamson-White Funeral Home Chapel in Amery, with family friend Reverend Donald Berry officiating.
