Shawn R Friese was born Oct 14, 1961 to Judy and Ron Friese in Red Wing, MN. He grew up in Ellsworth, WI with his two younger brothers Bim and Thumper. The boys were very active in multiple sports, and Shawn especially loved playing baseball. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1979, and went on to study engineering at UW Stout. Shawn had a talent for math, and applied those skills to carpentry; in which he excelled. He worked in various parts of the country, building hospitals, malls, skyscrapers, expansive private residences, and more. Shawn loved anything sports related. His favorite sport to watch was wrestling, and was a spirited supporter of local clubs. He was also an avid hunter, which complimented his observant, pensive, and keen nature. Riding his motorcycle was another favorite pastime. Shawn was the proud father of four: Ryann, Nick, Connor, and Taylor, and grandfather of one, Olive; all of whom he loved fiercely. In the early hours of Jan 6, 2017, his struggle with ALS ended. He peacefully passed at home, surrounded by family, and a beloved dog. Shawn is preceded in death by his father, and will be dearly missed by his mother, brothers, children, relatives, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 13th, 2017 from 5-8pm at Williamson and White Funeral Home 222 Harriman Avenue North, Amery, Wisconsin.
