Obituary

Sherman Bernard Civen, age 82 of St. Croix Falls, WI passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI. Sherman was born on April 14, 1933 in Boston, MA to Oscar and Eva (Levine) Civen. He attended school in Boston, and after high school he attended Clark University. He received his BS from Tufts University in Medford, MA in 1954. Sherman later joined the Armed Services and served with the Army during the Berlin Crisis. After serving, Sherman was united in marriage to Janice Davis on October 1, 1972 in Eureka, CA. He and Janice lived in many places during their marriage and enjoyed traveling. Sherman taught reading in many of the places they lived, and spent many years in education while living in New York City. His last occupation was for the government Hennepin County, Minneapolis. The couple eventually settled in the St. Croix Falls area where Sherman was still residing until recently entering Golden Age Manor where he resided due to health issues. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Janice. Sherman is survived by a brother, Morton Civen and niece, Kathleen Roberts as well as special friends, Lonnie and Brad Stowell and other relatives and friends. Graveside services with military honors will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
