Shirley R. Anderson was born on April 17, 1928 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Peterson. She grew up in the Clear Lake area. In July of 1953 she was united in marriage to Harold "Andy" Anderson. Shirley was a factory worker and also worked in restaurants in the area for several years. They made their home in Amery after their marriage and raised their two girls. The death of their daughter Mary Jo at the age of 10 was devastating for them, but Shirley carried on as best she could. Together she and Andy had the "Junque Shop" which they ran out of their home. Buying and selling antiques and collectibles over the years. She collected toothpick holders of all kinds during her life. She enjoyed her flowers, especially lilies of the valley which surrounded her home in Amery. Shirley was also an avid reader and played a great game of scrabble. She has lived at Golden Age Manor for the past couple of years. She died at Amery Regional Medical Center on Thursday morning January 28, 2010 at the age of 81 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Andy, daughter Mary Jo, and her parents. Left to mourn are her daughter Marcia Wilson; granddaughters: Jennifer Wilson and Amy (Doug) Mitchell ; great grandchild Orion Roepke; brothers: Jim Peterson and Bill Peterson; sisters: Marian Hysted, Phyllis Lovgren and LaVonne Larson as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday February 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery with Pastor Keith Ruehlow officiating. There will be visitation for the hour prior to the service at the church.
