Terence (Terry) David Sweeney passed away in Amery, WI on Friday, August 30, 2024, surrounded by his family and close friends. Terry was born in the Chicago area on June 8, 1944; he had just celebrated his 80th birthday.

Terry was the only child of Harold David Sweeney and Hazel Elizabeth Sweeney (Perry). He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Industrial Arts and was an accomplished electrician for over 40 years, having ended his career as a Wisconsin state-certified electrical inspector. Terry lived a life full of adventures and accomplishments. He loved spending time with friends and family at the cabin he built in Spooner, WI. Here, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and other outdoorsman activities would be enjoyed. At the end of the day, a lot of great stories would be told around the nightly bonfires!

Terry's friends and family will recall the smile on his face as he recounted the tale of his famous black bear hunt, which ended in the successful nabbing of his prize. It isn't at all surprising that he "bagged the big one," as he also received numerous awards over the years for shooting trap.

Trapshooting was one sport and hobby that brought Terry much joy. He loved the camaraderie and the challenge of beating his own score (and trouble-shooting if he didn't!) He invested a lot of time and commitment to this sport, involving his son, Mike, and granddaughters, Sydnee and Payten. Along with watching NASCAR racing, Terry enjoyed watching his grandson, Gunnar, race in local dirt track racing. The tradition of hockey in the family was carried on with his grandkids, Gunnar and Haley, where Terry would attend events.

Aside from spending time with his family, or being outdoors, he could be found tinkering about in the garage or fixing that which needed to be fixed. These qualities were well-appreciated by his partner, Kathleen (Kathy) Novitzke, who he leaves behind and with whom he spent the last 15 years. Terry is also survived by his children, Michael David Sweeney (Heidi Baker) and Shelley (Jeff) Watkins; grandchildren, Haley, Gunnar, Sydnee and Payten; as well as five great-grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. Please join us in sharing memories of our beloved Terry.
