Obituary

Violet (Vi) Arlene Hawley, age 81, of Amery, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, at the Golden Age Manor in Amery.

Vi was born on August 8, 1933, to Robert and Ida Weigelt (Larson) in Litchfield, Minnesota.

Vi is survived by three children, Victoria Hawley of Salem, Oregon, Vince Hawley of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Misty Monette, of Oro Valley, Arizona, plus five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Vi was a private person with a wonderful sense of humor who enjoyed crosswords and long talks with her children, often challenging them to tell her a joke, solve a puzzle or answer a riddle. She was a prodigious reader who loved a good story and old movies. After high school, Vi moved to the Twin Cities where she worked at Dayton's before marrying. She was pregnant with her second child when the family moved to Santiago, Chile, in 1957 for her husband's work. They lived there for two years before moving to Nevada, and later northern Minnesota and settling in Amery in 1964, where she raised four active kids (she joked that it seemed like sixteen) and gardened, often winning first place for her dahlia flower arrangements in the Amery Fall Festival. She is predeceased by her first son, Mitch. They are both greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 5 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the Amery Cemetery. A memorial dinner will be held after the service at 317 Riverside Blvd, Amery. For Directions or questions please call the Williamson~White Funeral Home at (715)268-7111.
