Violet Louise Wendt was born the daughter of Frank and Ellen (Anderson) Bjurstrom on November 24, 1916 in Clayton, Wisconsin. She grew up in Clayton and graduated from Clayton High School in 1934. On June 8, 1935 she was united in marriage to Herb Wendt and together they raised two children. Herb worked for area farmers for a while, but in 1937 they moved to their own farm. Together they operated that farm for many years. When all the area farmers got together to share in farm work she was right there providing great meals for all the workers. She was a long time member of Elim Lutheran Church and served the church in many ways. She was a snowmobiler and a member of the Joel Mobilers snowmobile club. She enjoyed bowling and was also active with the Joel Homemakers. Violet lived at River Bend in Amery prior to moving to Willow Ridge Healthcare where she passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the age of 97 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb Wendt, sister Ruby Monio and Brothers Melvin and Floyd Bjurstrom. She is survived by her children: Chuck (Marilyn) Wendt and Mary (Ron) Naggatz; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from Elim Lutheran Church in rural Amery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Elim Cemetery.
