Virgil W. Vance passed away on August 5, 2011 at the Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI at the age of 81. He was born in Barron County on October 9, 1929 to William (Bill) and Lily (Brackee) Vance. He graduated from Clayton High School and then moved to Luck, WI where he worked at Butternut Dairies. He met and married Deloris Clark on October 24, 1950 and to this union six children were born. He served two years in the US Army and came back to Luck after being honorably discharged, and resumed his job at Butternut Dairies. Land O Lakes bought out Butternut Dairies and made a small plant in Amery where Virgil and Deloris have lived since 1955. He worked for 43 years at Land O Lakes before his retirement. His hobbies were doing wood work and watching TV until his legs gave out on him and his health started to fail. Left to mourn is his loving wife of 60 years, Deloris; his six children, Debbie (Jeff) Manlove, Della (Roger) Anderson, Jack (Ellie) Vance, Bob (Holly) Vance, Jim (Tracy) Vance and Pam (Jeff) Posey; 18 grand children, 24 great grandchildren, and other loving relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, two sisters and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Elim Lutheran Church in Range, WI. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are Daryl Roberts, Shawn Anderson, Derek Posey, Matt Vance, Jamie Vance and Ryan Vance. Honorary pallbearers are all of Virgil's grand and great grandchildren.
