Walter William Bleskacek Jr. was born in Auburn Township,Chippewa County, Wisconsin on January 14, 1927 the son of Walter J. and Agnes A. (Zwiefelhofer) Bleskacek. He grew up on a dairy farm in rural Bloomer, Wisconsin and graduated from Bloomer High School. For a period of time he worked with his father on the farm. He met Elsie Onderak and on August 10, 1963 they were united in marriage in Crystal Falls, Michigan. They made their home in Amery where Walter worked for Fabri-Tek. They purchased a home in 1965. After Fabri-Tek closed he worked as a custodian at the Amery School, and a technician for Boumatic farm systems and installed and repaired milking equipment. Because of his experience at Fabri-Tek he worked in electronics for Dynatronix and later Nova Tran from which he retired. Walter was active in the community serving on the Amery Fire Department, the Amery Historical Society, Polk County Right to Life and the Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church as well. He was a supporter of the Stower Seven Lakes State Trail and the Arnell Humane Society. As his children were growing up he also served as a 4-H leader. As health care needs increased he moved to River Bend. During the past few months has been a resident of Willow Ridge Healthcare where he died on Wednesday evening, October 28, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie and Sister Gloria Hable. Surviving family members include his children:, John (Norlene) Bleskacek, Francis (Michele) Bleskacek, and Mary Aasmundrud; sister Marietta Viergutz; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
